Administration: intrathecal use One vial with a volume of 5 ml contains sodium salt of nusinersen, which corresponds to 12 mg of nusinersen. One ml contains 2.4 mg of nusinersen. Nusinersen is an antisense oligonucleotide (antisense oligonucleotide, ASO) that increases the proportion of exon 7 inclusion in messenger ribonucleic acid transcripts ribonucleic acid, mRNA) for SMN2 (survival motor neuron 2, SMN2) by binding to the intronic splice silencing site (ISS-N1) located in intron 7 of the SMN2 pre-messenger ribonucleic acid (pre-messenger ribonucleic acid, pre-mRNA) for SMN2. Administration: intracerebroventricular use The drug cerliponase alfa belongs to a group of drugs known as enzyme replacement therapy. It is used to treat patients with neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis type 2 (CLN2), also known as tripeptidyl peptidase 1 (TPP1) deficiency. People with with CLN2 disease, they do not have an enzyme called TPP1 or they have too little of it, which causes the accumulation of substances called lysosomal accumulation substances. In people with CLN2 disease, these substances accumulate in some parts of the body, especially in the brain. This medicine replaces the defective an enzyme called TPPA, thereby minimizing the accumulation of lysosomal storage substances. This medicine works by slowing down the progress of the disease.
