The object of the project is the implementation of the Riihimaeki Voimala project. The scope of the project is approximately 6,700 brm2. The city is investigating the implementation of the project with an investor model and invites those interested in the projectinvestor and project developers for market dialogue.
The city of Riihimaeki has been looking for ideas for a new use of the old power plant property located next to the railway station. From autumn 2022, the concept of Riihimaeki Voimala has been developed by the European Commission's New European Bauhaus -with the help of initiative development support. Voimala's future operating concept report, worked on with Ramboll's assistance, was published in June 2023.
The concept has been based on feedback received from city residents and stakeholders. In the concept, the former power plant is transformed into a factory of culture and experiences,whose visitors are lovers of music, culture, robotics, design and well-being.
The goal of the City Project is to find a partner who will buy the building and plot from the city for a nominal fee and then plan, implement and finance the project and act as the landlordana to entities operating at Voimala.
