The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley (hereafter referred to as the Shire or Principal) invites submissions from suitably qualified consultants to apply participatory urban planning and place-making principles in preparing masterplans and development strategies for the Lake Kununurra Foreshore and Kununurra Town Centre. The contract is structured as two Separable Portions to align with grant funding streams.At the time of release of the RFT the Shire can confirm that funding is secured for Separable Portion 2 (Town Centre), with an outcome regarding Separable Portion 1 (Lake Kununurra Foreshore) expected in November 2024.The Shire is seeking to activate these areas by enhancing land use, connectivity, and community amenities. A key focus for both is capturing the unique place identity, with an emphasis on culture and heritage, ensuring it aligns with the local community-s aspirations. Through collaboration with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, the project seeks to create welcoming, authentic spaces that celebrate local cultures, support storytelling, and foster cultural safety, pride, and belonging. These masterplans will serve as blueprints for the Shire-s long-term planning, enhancing liveability, economic resilience, and cultural connections across the region.
