Latest European Defence Agency (EDA) Funded Tenders

The European Defence Agency (EDA), through its Hub for European Defence Innovation (HEDI), is launching a ‘Prize Contest-* as part of the Operational Experimentation Campaign 2026 (OPEX261 PT) in Portugal. The initiative aims to accelerate the development, testing, and operational validation of advanced loitering munition and precision strike systems. Hosted by the Portuguese Army and integrated with the ARTEX26 exercise, the campaign will allow selected participants to demonstrate their technologies in realistic, controlled military environments alongside other emerging systems such as unmanned aerial and ground platforms. The Prize Contest seeks to produce objective performance data aligned with EU Member States- operational needs, helping identify and mature promising defence technologies for rapid operational adoption. By enabling realistic experimentation, collaboration between industry and military stakeholders and structured technical assessments, the initiative supports informed capability development and future procurement decisions. Ultimately, it aims to strengthen Europe-s defence innovation ecosystem, improve interoperability and enhance the technological readiness and operational effectiveness of European armed forces. LOT 2: Launching Quantum Defence Projects for Foundational Research and Technology: Under this lot economic operators will provide services to identify, propose, and develop promising technologies to different CapTechs or within cross CapTechs activities. The objective is to support the initiation or continuation of R&T projects, and to act as an incubator for early-stage innovations. This could include supporting the first steps of EDA OB studies, Cat. B projects and/or EDF projects or the transition from EDA OB studies to Cat. B projects and/or EDF projects and propose next steps including roadmaps and demonstrations.

The objective of this framework contract is to assist EDA in implementing its Core Task 5, as defined in the EDA-s Long term review 2024. The EDA-s Core Task 5 consists in consolidating and promoting EU Member States- Ministries of Defence (MoD) common interest towards EU wider policies, both civilian and defence related. EDA contributes to promoting a shared understanding of the legal, technological, and defence challenges to benefit all Member States, industry and EU bodies and agencies. EDA thus contributes to implement current and future strategies and policies, striving to reflect appropriately MoD-s views. This contract aims to support a continuous monitoring and awareness of wider policies affecting the EDTIB, in a fast pace evolving security, policy and economic environment. The overarching goal of this framework contract is to help EDA develop and refine tools and instruments that will support the development of the EDTIB. These are multifaceted and can address all policies that touch upon the activities of the defence industry at the national, intergovernmental and supranational levels.
