State of the Science and Technology of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Medical Radiation Applications and Current Regulation (3626S22321)
Artificial intelligence (AI) systems in medicine enable new ways to personalize and optimize therapy, individual dose prescriptions in nuclear medicine imaging, and faster and more accurate X-ray diagnostics as workloads increase. The risks and challenges of using AI include, among other things, the heterogeneity or lack of training data, the susceptibility to errors and ethical concerns.
A legal framework for the commissioning and use of AI systems is defined by the EU AI Regulation (2024). In addition, numerous normative specifications that are (partly) used in medicine, as well as recommendations from international and national specialist societies, have appeared in recent years.
The research project must examine the state of science and technology: identify the current use of AI in medicine and the latest developments. The legal and sub-legal regulations in Germany and the EU are...
