The Swedish Armed Forces intend to replace their waist-guided backhoe loaders (GL) 461 (Volvo 6300/EL70) which were acquired for the Swedish Armed Forces in the 1990s and which are nearing the end of their life cycle in the near future. Although there are a large number of backhoe loaders in use is it an accelerating problem to obtain spare parts for the vehicles. The acquisition of wheeled and crawler excavators takes place with the aim of replacing the existing GL 461, where excavators have been chosen as replacements as the backhoe loaders that are on the market today will with a price tag that is not defensible. The acquisition will include one type of wheeled excavator and three types of crawler excavators. Procurement also includes spare parts, documentation, training and service/support. The framework agreement has a ceiling volume of a total of 120 excavators with an option to expand the roof volume with a further total of 50 excavators. The length of the framework agreement is planned to be 4 years with the possibility of an extension for a further 1+1+1 years.
