Introduction NPHarvest Ltd develops technologies for recovering nutrients from wastewaters, enabling the recycling of nitrogen and phosphorus back into productive use. NPHarvest-s solution is based on a hydrophobic membrane process for ammonia recovery and lime precipitation for phosphorus recovery. The end products of the recovery process are a liquid ammonium salt and solid amorphous calcium phosphate which has organic material mixed in the product. These are categorically raw materials rather than commercial products and further development is necessary. Project Description and Objectives The goal of this procurement is product development work aimed at transforming NPHarvest-s recovered nutrients β€” ammonium salt and calcium-P-material β€” into finished, market-ready products that can be but are not limited to fertilizers. The work includes in particular: - selection of a suitable ammonium salt - determination of other required nutrients and their optimal ratios, including not only nitrogen and phosphorus but also other nutrients such as potassium, sulfur, calcium, magnesium, and micronutrients, if necessary - identification of potential binding and additive substances, and - optimization of the final product form (e.g. pellets or granules, powder, or liquid) from recovered raw materials into refined end products. An important part of the project is to develop the end products with the nutrient recovery process in mind, ensuring that nutrients are recovered in forms that a...

The study aims to establish a structured ethical framework that identifies: 1) a typology of different kinds of screening (e.g. population-based and targeted/risk stratified cancer screening, carrier screening, prenatal and preimplantation genetic screening, neonatal screening) and early testing, (e.g. for Alzheimer's disease and autism spectrum disorder) and their possible characteristics (curable non curable disease, invasive test or not, ….) 2) the ethical questions/key challenges it raises and the respective normative answers/considerations. it represents a practical normative ethical framework that can be used as a basis for future kce reports on screening initiatives/existing programs and can guide the associated policy-making processes. the framework addresses ethical considerations at the societal level (e.g. is it ethically justifiable to spend public health resources on screening programs with limited or uncertain (cost-)effectiveness or resulting in major increase in budget and workload because of incidental findings?) as well as on an individual patient and relatives level (e.g. questions regarding informed consent, autonomy and privacy). a first practical application of the ethical framework will be carried out for the ongoing kce report on prostate cancer screening. category (cpv code): research and development services and related consultancy services (73000000)
