Back in 2010, the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) in conjunction with WMO through Voluntary Cooperation Program (VCP) project titled Supply and Installation of Equipment for modernizing Regional Instrument Centre at Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD), Nairobi, Kenya, upgraded the equipment at Nairobi Regional Instrument Centre (RIC). The project included the procurement of temperature, pressure, humidity, precipitation, and solar radiation calibration equipment.Since then, there have been a lot of changes in terms of technological development which have led to the need for upgrading some of the equipment that was procured back then. Also, in order for the Nairobi RIC to continue assuring quality weather data to its customers and other stakeholders through weather instruments calibration services, the RIC is in the process of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 implementation in the areas of Pressure and temperature calibration and therefore there is a need to carry out this necessary upgrade in two particular areas.The RIC is equipped with 240V Ac, 50Hz power supply, air conditioners, and full-time internet.
